Arsenal clashed heads with Newcastle United at St. James’ Park earlier tonight as they hoped to collect maximum points on the road. The Gunners were dominated in the first half but managed to get to the half-time break with a goalless scoreline.

The North London outfit conceded the opening goal in the 55th minute when Ben White found the back of his own net. Bruno Guimaraes doubled Newcastle’s advantage late in the game as Mikel Arteta’s men crashed to a poor 2-0 loss away at Tyneside.

Let’s take a look at how each Arsenal player performed during the contest against the Magpies.

GK: Aaron Ramsdale – 6.5/10

He made a couple of important saves but will be disappointed after conceding twice in the second half.

RB: Takehiro Tomiyasu – 6.5/10

Tomiyasu made a few crucial clearances at the back but was substituted in the 38th minute.

CB: Ben White – 5/10

The English centre-back made a handful of clearances inside his half but scored an unfortunate own goal just ten minutes into the second half.

CB: Gabriel – 6/10

He made a couple of tackles and was too soft when defending at the back.

LB: Nuno Tavares – 6/10

Tavares won a couple of aerial duels but offered very little in the Newcastle half.

CM: Mohamed Elneny – 6.5/10

Elneny tried his best to protect his backline and had some bright moments with the ball in the final third.

CM: Granit Xhaka – 6.5/10

He cleared the danger at times and was good on the ball. Xhaka made two good runs from midfield.

RW: Bukayo Saka – 6/10

Saka was not shy of having a strike at goal but was wasteful in the attacking end of the field.

CAM: Martin Odegaard – 7/10

The Norwegian sensation set up a few clear-cut chances for others around him but there was no goal for him tonight.

LW: Emile Smith Rowe – 6.5/10

He did his fair share of defending but lacked quality in the final third.

ST: Eddie Nketiah – 5.5/10

Nketiah had a quiet game in the Newcastle half and never looked like he would score.

RB: Cedric Soares – 6/10

Soares held his own when defending at the back.

LW: Gabriel Martinelli – 5.5/10

He struggled to get into the flow of the game.

ST: Alexandre Lacazette – 6/10

The Frenchman didn’t get a sniff at goal.

RW: Nicolas Pepe – 6/10

Pepe struggled to influence the game in the opponent’s half.
