Manchester City welcomed Brighton and Hove Albion at the Etihad Stadium earlier tonight as they looked to secure a win in front of their home supporters. Pep Guardiola’s men dominated the game in the first half but were held to a scoreless draw at the half-time break.
Riyad Mahrez finally broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute with a calm finish. Phil Foden doubled Man City’s advantage just 12 minutes later with a deflected attempt. Bernardo Silva managed to kill the game off with a solid left-footed strike in the 82nd minute as the contest ended 3-0 in favour of the Mancunian giants.

The Brazilian keeper had to make just one save in the game and secured an easy clean sheet at home.
RB: Joao Cancelo – 8/10
Cancelo gave a good account of himself on the defensive end of the field and made two good chances going forward.

The English defensive ace earned the ball back a couple of times and was quite accurate with his passing.
CB: Aymeric Laporte – 7/10
The Spaniard was strong in the air and made plenty of clearances at the back.
LB: Nathan Ake – 6.5/10
He was solid at the back but offered very little in the final third.
CM: Kevin De Bruyne – 7.5/10
The Belgian talent made multiple chances for his teammates to score and has got an assist to show for his efforts.
CM: Rodri – 7/10
The Spaniard dominated the midfield battle but failed to influence the game in the Brighton half.
CM: Ilkay Gundogan – 6.5/10
He had a few lively moments in the game but didn’t do enough to get his name on the scoresheet.
RW: Riyad Mahrez – 8.5/10
Mahrez caused all kinds of problems for the Brighton centre-backs and has got a goal and an assist to show for his efforts.
ST: Bernardo Silva – 8.5/10
He led the line well for Man City and scored a good goal late in the game which killed the contest off.
LW: Phil Foden – 8/10
Foden had some bright moments in the final third and ended the game with a goal to his name.
