In a recent report, The Athletic stated that Manchester United are keen on recruiting Chelsea powerhouse Antonio Rudiger. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils are eager to acquire the services of the German international when he becomes a free agent at the end of this season but will have to compete with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich in pursuit of him.

Rudiger’s Impressive Run Of Form At Stamford Bridge This Season

Rudiger is experiencing a solid campaign at West London after producing several dominant displays as a key member of Thomas Tuchel’s defence. The 29-year-old has taken part in 47 matches for the Blues this season, netting five goals and securing four assists in all competitions.

The Berlin-born talent has been a valuable contributor at Stamford Bridge as he is averaging 1.3 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 2.6 clearances and 1.4 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been careful when distributing possession from the back after completing 87.8% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

Is Rudiger A Good Option For Manchester United?

Rudiger can get stuck in with some crunching tackles to make a few decent interceptions inside his half. He is usually quick to spot the danger when needed and loves to play his way out from the back.

The German central defender can use his strong 1.90m frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. Plus, he can even contribute by scoring the odd goal from time and time.

Someone of Rudiger’s skillset will be an excellent option for the Red Devils to consider this summer. He will add more bite and steel to Man United’s backline and could help bring some success back to Old Trafford in the coming seasons.

At 29, Rudiger is currently enjoying the prime years of his playing career and would be an upgrade over Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof at the Mancunian club. Therefore, it makes sense for Man United to prioritize on sealing a move for the German international when he becomes a free agent later this year.
