Manchester United lock horns with Brentford at Old Trafford on Tuesday, hoping to pick up a positive result on their home turf. The Red Devils will be coming into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw with Chelsea similar to the Bees who remained grounded with a scoreless draw against Tottenham Hotspur.
Team News
Ralf Ragnick’s side aren’t looking good on the injury front as Manchester United remain without four players who could be out for the game against Brentford, namely – Paul Pogba (calf), Fred (hip flexor), Edinson Cavani (calf) and Luke Shaw (knee operation).
To add to the mishap, Harry Maguire has picked up a knee injury and will reportedly be missing out on the rest of the season.
Ralf Rangnick will probably opt for the 4-3-3 formation similar to the last match as his options remain limited.
4-3-3 Predicted Manchester United Lineup Vs Brentford
Defence
David de Gea is expected to start in the goal for the upcoming clash. The Spanish shot-stopper would look to put up a strong performance and secure a clean sheet.
Raphael Varane is expected to start at the heart of United’s backline, with skipper Lindelof slotting into the right-centre back position. Diogo Dalot should start at the right-back position, whereas Alex Telles will fill in on the opposite side on the left-back.
Midfield
Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay would fill in the holding midfield positions with the former given more of a defensive role.
Bruno Fernandes remains a starter for Manchester United this week, and the Red Devils will rely on his creativity in the final third hoping to win the three points in the midweek.
Juan Mata will have to settle for a place on the bench, but he could be brought on in the second half of the contest if needed.
Attack
Marcus Rashford and Anthony Elanga will take up the wide positions, causing a menace for Thomas Frank’s men down the left and right-wing, respectively.
Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to lead the line for Manchester United in midweek. The 37-year-old striker’s positioning and clinical abilities in front of the goal could cause trouble for the opposition’s backline.
