Newcastle United entertained Everton at St. James’ Park earlier tonight as they looked to secure a positive result at home. The Magpies made a solid start to the game but conceded the opening goal in the 36th minute when Jamaal Lascelles scored an unfortunate own goal. However, Mason Holgate scored an own goal for Everton as well just a minute later which meant both teams went into the half-time break with a 1-1 scoreline.
Ryan Fraser capitalised on a defensive mistake and put the Magpies ahead in the 56th minute before Kieran Trippier made the points secure with an excellent freekick in the 80th minute. The contest ended with the Tyneside outfit earning a 3-1 win in front of their home supporters.
