Everton faced off against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park earlier tonight as they looked to secure maximum points on the road. The Toffees did well to take the lead in the 36th minute courtesy of Jamaal Lascelles’ own goal. However, Mason Holgate found the back of his own net as well just one minute later as the two sides went into the half-time break with a 1-1 scoreline.

The Merseyside conceded again in the 56th minute when Michael Keane made a poor mistake which led to Ryan Fraser finding the back of the net. Frank Lampard’s men failed to come up with a response and shipped in their third goal in the 80th minute when Kieran Trippier scored a brilliant free-kick. The match ended with the Toffees suffering a poor 3-1 defeat on their travels.

Let’s take a look at how each Everton player fared during the match against the Magpies.

GK: Jordan Pickford – 6.5/10

The English keeper made plenty of important saves at the back but still ended up conceding three goals tonight.

CB: Yerry Mina – 6/10

Mina was strong in the air but could only last 34 minutes.

CB: Michael Keane – 6/10

He won his fair share of aerial duels but committed a poor mistake in the lead-up to Fraser’s goal.

CB: Mason Holgate – 5/10

Holgate was responsible for scoring an unfortunate own goal and looked unconvincing at the back.

He did his fair share of defending and was quite lively going forward.

CM: Allan – 6/10

The Portuguese talent had a lackluster first half and got replaced near the hour mark.

LW: Andros Townsend – 6/10

Townsend worked hard defensively but struggled to influence the game in the final third.

RAM: Anthony Gordon – 6.5/10

He had a few bright moments in and around the Newcastle penalty box but did’t do enough to register a goal.

LAM: Demarai Gray – 6.5/10

Gray made a good start to the game but had to be taken off in the 24th minute.

ST: Richarlison – 6/10

The Brazilian attacker saw chances come at a premium and produced an uninspired display in the final third.

Substitutes:

CM: Dele Alli – 7/10

He was bright on the ball and managed to create a few inviting chances for others around him.

CB: Jarrad Branthwaite – 6/10

Branthwaite made one important clearance at the back.

CM: Donny van de Beek – 6/10

He hardly got into the flow of the game.
