Manchester City will entertain Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium this Saturday afternoon as both teams look to go all out in search of the three points. The Mancunian giants managed to earn a 4-1 win over Swindon Town last weekend. Similarly, the Blues secured a 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in midweek which will give them some confidence ahead of this game.

Manchester City Vs Chelsea: Talking Tactics

Pep Guardiola could stick with his favoured 4-3-3 formation and is expected to name a strong starting XI for this weekend’s clash. The Spanish head coach will ask his players to control possession in midfield and create enough goal-scoring chances to win this game at home.

Thomas Tuchel will set his team up in a 3-4-2-1 formation as he looks to expose Man City’s defensive weaknesses using the pace and power of Romelu Lukaku on the counter.

John Stones is a major doubt for this game as he is still recovering from a knock. Man City also has a few undisclosed players out due to Covid-19. However, Guardiola should still have a strong squad available for this game.

Reece James, Ben Chilwell and Trevoh Chalobah will be sidelined for this clash. Edouard Mendy is also unavailable due to his involvement in the African Cup of Nations.

Chelsea Predicted XI

Kepa; Christensen, Silva, Rudiger; Azpilicueta, Jorginho, Kovacic, Alonso; Mount, Havertz; Lukaku

Key Men

Manchester City

Both Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden will carry most of the goal-scoring workload up top. Kevin De Bruyne will be Guardiola’s primary playmaker following his return to form in recent weeks.

Chelsea

Romelu Lukaku has to find a way to cause a few problems for the Man City centre-backs during the 90 minutes. The midfield performance of Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho could go a long way in determining the fate of this match.
