In a recent report, Calciomercato has provided an update on Newcastle United target Radu Dragusin’s contract situation at Juventus. It has been reported that the contract talks between the Turin giants and the player have come to a stand-by amid recent interest from the Hammers along with Red Bull Leipzig and Atalanta.

Dragusin’s Growing Frustrations At The Allianz Stadium This Season

The Bucharest-born talent has endured a difficult season at Turin after struggling to earn regular playing minutes with Juve’s senior team. Dragusin has participated in four matches for the Italian outfit this term, securing a total of 231 minutes of game time in multiple competitions.

The Romanian youngster managed to put in a good performance in the 4-0 win over SPAL in the Coppa Italia quarterfinals back in January. However, first-team opportunities have been few and far between for Dragusin this season, which has hampered his progress in Italian football.

Maybe the player could be tempted with a chance to join the Magpies if Steve Bruce is willing to give him a chance by orchestrating a move for him during the summer transfer window. Dragusin could be guaranteed regular playing minutes at St. James’ Park as he is good enough to compete with Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schar and Federico Fernandez for a regular starting spot in Bruce’s first-team.

What Does The Romanian Starlet Bring To The Table?

Dragusin is a dominant presence in the air as he can use his powerful 1.91m frame to outmuscle the opposition and win some essential aerial duels for his team. He is far from a consistent defender but has shown some glimpses of his true potential at Juventus this season.

The two-time Romania Under-21 international can sense the danger quickly that allows him to earn possession back inside his half. However, he is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and needs to play regularly if he intends to become a top centre-back someday.

Should The Magpies Move In For Him In The Summer?

At 19, Dragusin has still got a lot to learn but will be a signing for the long-run if Bruce can bring him to Tyneside at the end of this campaign. The Newcastle boss needs to recruit some fresh faces to bolster his defensive department so that his players can steer clear of the relegation battle in the coming seasons.

Hence, Dragusin could prove to be a good option for them as he is young and has got the potential to be a starter at St. James’ Park for years to come. With all things considered, Bruce should think about going in for the Juventus outcast, especially if he decides not to pen a new contract which would make him a free agent this summer.
