Tottenham Hotspur locked horns with Manchester City at the Etihad earlier tonight hoping to pick up a win on the road. The hosts took the lead around the 23-minute mark as Rodrigo converted from the spot. Other than that, the first forty-five minutes didn’t see too many chances; however, it was Ilkay Gundogan who grabbed the headlines in the second-half as he put two past Hugo Lloris to ensure a comfortable victory for the hosts.

Let’s take a look at how each Tottenham Hotspur player performed during the clash versus the Citizens.

Hugo Lloris – 5/10

The French shot-stopper ended up conceding three goals tonight; however, there’s hardly anything he could have done to stop them. He got his hands to the penalty but failed to keep the ball out of his net.

Japhet Tanganga – 5.5/10

The 21-year-old kept his composure at the back and dealt well with Raheem Sterling, but he failed to do the same against Phil Foden in the second-half.

Davidson Sanchez – 6/10

The Colombian defender made numerous last-ditch blocks and interceptions to help his side; however, things came crashing down in the latter stages of the match.

Eric Dier – 5/10

The English defender could have done better to prevent the second goal of the match. Not the kind of performance you’d expect from him.

Ben Davies – 4.5/10

Davies struggled to keep up with the likes of Raheem Sterling down the left flank. The latter could easily outpace him and get into the opposition box.

Tanguy Ndombele – 6/10

The Frenchman didn’t turn out to be effective against City’s high-press game as he hardly managed to dictate the midfield proceedings.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 5/10

The Danish international ended up conceding a soft penalty around the 23-minute-mark. His defensive performance wasn’t great either.

Erik Lamela – 5/10

The Argentine international cut a frustrated figure at the top tonight as he was often forced to commit mistakes under tremendous pressure from the City players.

Lucas Moura – 5/10

Moura had a very silent game attacking-wise, and it didn’t really look like he had a lot to offer in his own half of the pitch as well. As a result, he was replaced by Moussa Sissoko at half-time.

Son Heung-min – 5.5/10

The Korean international was often marked by two or three City players and was hardly given any time on the ball.

Harry Kane – 6/10

The Englishman went very close to scoring in the first-half as his free-kick came off the woodwork. Other than that, he put up a very average performance.

SUBSTITUTES:

Dele Alli – 6/10

The 24-year-old made some good runs, but that’s all he had to offer.

Gareth Bale – 6/10

The Welsh international provided his side with some extra energy going forward.

Moussa Sissoko – 6/10

He was probably brought on to add some solidity to Spurs’ midfield; however, things didn’t go according to the plan as he let Ilkay Gundogan run past him on a couple of occasions.
