Leeds United were stopped in their tracks as they slumped to a 4-1 defeat to Leicester City. The Whites were completely outclassed by a brisk start by the Foxes, with Harvey Barnes scoring an early goal and Youri Tielemans helping them seal a 2-0 lead at half-time.

A positive display from Leeds in the second half did help, with Stuart Dallas pulling one back for the home side. But it wasn’t enough as goals from Vardy and Tielemans put more gloss into the scoreline.

Leeds United Player Ratings vs Leicester City

Illan Meslier 6.5/10

An unfortunate evening for Illan Meslier who made some excellent saves throughout the game, but didn’t have any chance in saving any of the goals scored by Leicester City. Wasn’t helped by a poor defensive effort from Leeds United defenders.

Luke Ayling 6.5/10

Luke Ayling once again impressed with his forays down the flanks, notably creating an excellent chance for Patrick Bamford in the first-half. May have done a little better defensively.

Robin Koch 5/10

An awful defensive performance from Robin Koch, whose early effort gifted Leicester City a goal. He was completely outclassed by Vardy for the most part of the game. Looked a lot more convincing in the second half.

Liam Cooper 5.5/10

It wasn’t the brightest of performances from Liam Cooper either, who was too slow to deal with someone like Vardy, who he notably played onside for an excellent chance late in the game. Didn’t show the leadership that was required.

Stuart Dallas 6/10

Stuart Dallas provided the offensive support as one would expect and even scored a goal, though in a rather weird fashion. Not a good performance defensively, though the game settled a bit more in the second half.

Mateusz Klich 6.5/10

Mateusz Klich had a very difficult time dealing with the Leicester City midfield in the first half. Had a more settled game and even bossed the early stages of the second half but conceded a late penalty to help Tielemans score his brace.

Helder Costa 6/10

Helder Costa kept the opposing defenders on their toes with his quick feet and tricky movements. May have done a bit more in regards to his overall productivity in the final third.

Pablo Hernandez 7/10

Had a slow and ineffective start to the game but became the creator-in-chief for Leeds United as they started to up their gear. Went close to finding a second goal with a fantastic effort that hit the post.

Jamie Shackleton 5/10

An awful game for Jamie Shackleton who was blown away by Leicester City’s brisk start to the game, barely allowing him to make any impact on the proceedings. Replaced at half-time.

Jack Harrison 7/10

Jack Harrison had a very slow start to the game, but his work off the ball was inspiring to say the least. The on-loan Man City winger also recovered the ball multiple times, though the winger may have done a little better in balancing the depth of his crosses.

Patrick Bamford 4/10

Patrick Bamford had a miserable game, to say the least. He missed two glorious opportunities to almost kill the game in the first half but failed to make use of any of them. The forward also looked slow, which was combined with some sloppy touches throughout the game.

SUBSTITUTES

Ian Poveda 6.5/10

Offered some energy and flair out wide but not enough to provide any telling impact on the proceedings. Still a lively performance though.

Tyler Roberts 6/10

Did nothing but ran at defenders after replacing Hernandez midway through the second half.

Ezgjan Alioski N/A

Provided more energy down the left-hand side but not enough to warrant a rating.
