In a recent report, Defensa Central has stated that Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior is catching the attention of Manchester United this summer. It is understood that the Red Devils have launched an enquiry about the Brazilian winger’s situation at the Spanish capital and could be eyeing a move for the Madrid youngster if they miss out on Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho in this off-season (via Defensa Central).

Vinicius Junior’s Rapid Emergence In Spain Last Season

The one-time Brazil international experienced a meteoric rise at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium last season as he managed to establish himself as a regular feature in Zinedine Zidane’s match-day squad. He managed to net five goals and provide four assists in 38 appearances for the champions of Spain on all fronts in the previous campaign, showcasing his brilliance out on the wide areas.

Vinicius has done well to average 1.3 shots, 0.8 key passes and 1.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in the recently concluded La Liga season. He has also taken care of the ball when distributing it in the opposition half as evidenced by his pass success rate of 80.7% in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).

Hence, it is no wonder that the 20-year-old’s rapid rise seems to have caught the attention of a top club like Man United as he has the ceiling to become a world-class winger in European football someday. Vinicius ticks all the right boxes in terms of what is required to be a success story at the highest level.

What Does The Brazilian Starlet Offer On The Pitch?

Vinicius’s quickness and agility make him an excellent dribbler with the ball down the left flank. He is proficient at getting himself to the byline so that he can cook up some decent chances for Karim Benzema inside the opposition penalty box. The Sao Goncalo-born talent has been involved in nine goals for the Madrid outfit last season which has raised his stock across European football.

Should The Bernabeu Outfit Cash In On Vinicius This Summer?

His current contract with Los Blancos is set to run out in the summer of 2025, so the Red Devils will have to make a substantial offer to convince Zinedine Zidane to part ways with his prized asset. However, the Brazilian sensation needs to ensure regular game time in the coming seasons if he intends to reach his full potential.

Vinicius has also contributed with his fair share of goals and assists in the previous campaign. Furthermore, he has proven himself to be a capable back-up to Eden Hazard, Isco and Marco Asensio at the Spanish capital thus far. With all things considered, Los Blancos would be foolish to sanction his exit this summer even if they receive a significant fee in compensation for his services.
