As reported by Fussballeck, Bayern Munich have entered the race to sign Anthony Musaba. It was revealed by former player-manager turned pundit, Hans Kraay Jr. in Dutch Fox Sports’ segment called “Voetballpraat”. Bayern Munich, however, could face stiff competition in the pursuit of the NEC Nijmegen youngster, who is also courted by Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig. Kraay Jr. has also admitted that the player could leave his club this summer and could be valued at around €2.5 million.

Who is Anthony Musaba?

A product of the Vitesse youth academy, Musaba has emerged as one of the rising stars in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, which is the second division of Dutch football. He has scored seven goals and registered five assists in just 25 league matches, helping his club stay in the top half of the table.

A right-winger by trade, Musaba has already impressed the onlookers with his dynamism and flair in the final third. He is blessed with quick-feet that allows him to take on opposing defenders. But more importantly, he is capable of holding his own in physical one-on-ones, which is a priceless asset for any young attacker.

Musaba’s style of play can actually be compared to Bayern Munich superstar Serge Gnabry. A powerful winger with a vicious right foot and a considerable amount of pace, the Dutchman has indeed terrorised the opposing defences in the second division this campaign.

However, his future at NEC Nijmegen seems uncertain, especially with his contract expiring at the end of next season. And given the impact he has made in the ongoing campaign, a move away from the Netherlands could be on the cards this summer.

Should Bayern Munich make a move for Musaba?

Bayern Munich are pretty much enjoying a bright spell of form under Hansi Flick. The club has been highly successful in recent months, but more importantly, there has been an influx of talented players pushing for the first-team.

Musaba, in that regard, should be an ideal addition to a Bayern academy that is already booming with exciting youngsters like Sarpreet Singh, Joshua Zirkzee and Taylor Booth. At the same time, however, a move to Allianz Arena doesn’t make a lot of sense from the player’s perspective.

Indeed, the winger will be looking for regular game-time to continue his progress in a professional career. And in that sense, it might be a good idea for him to remain at Nijmegen or perhaps move to a club in the Eredivisie. The Dutch top division has produced quality young players in recent years, and Musaba can definitely follow their footsteps, given his talent and potential.
