According to a recent report by the Daily Mail, Premier League outfit Newcastle United are said to be hot on the trail of Uruguayan sensation Facundo Pellistri this summer. The youngster, who currently plays under the managership of former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan at Penarol, has been rated extremely highly, having undergone what must be described as a true breakout season in the Uruguayan top-flight. Fellow Premier League outfit Manchester City are also said to be in pursuit of the teenager’s services, but despite this, Newcastle United will go after Facundo Pellistri too.

What Does Facundo Pellistri Bring To The Table?

The youngster is understandably still plying his trade in his home country of Uruguay, but with teams like Manchester City, Newcastle United, and even Real Madrid interested, a switch away could well be on the cards. The forward’s exploits have earned him excellent reviews, and it’s not surprising that the continent’s best are taking an interest in a prospective superstar. Despite being just 18, the Uruguayan often shows incredible maturity and presence of mind while out on the pitch.

The forward’s displays have been so good that Diego Forlan – his manager, awarded him the coveted number ten shirt before the season was brought to a halt. A right-winger by position, the attacker is capable of playing on either flank depending on the requirement, while he’s also adept at putting effective crosses into the box.

A willing runner, the forward, is known for his fantastic dribbling abilities, in that he often uses his pace and trickery to leave defenders for dead in one-on-one situations.

The Uruguayan tends to offer a solid presence in the final third of the pitch, and despite being just 18-years-old, he boasts good upper body strength as well as balance. Capable of using his body to guard the ball while in possession, the Penarol man’s upward form graph will be an enjoyable sight for various clubs across the world. There’s an abundance of young dribblers in football at the moment, but the fact that Pellistri seems to be catching everyone’s eye must mean that he possesses something special in the arsenal.

The youngster can be quite potent after getting into the opposition box too, as he boasts good finishing skills for a player of his age. Although the forward hasn’t been able to show off his full potential in league football so far, the biggest clubs around the world haven’t needed a second invitation to keep tabs on the young South American. With just five fixtures under his belt this season, the 18-year-old is already turning some of the most influential heads in the European game.

Newcastle United Will Go After Facundo Pellistri: Why The Magpies Must Sign Him Up

Although an 18-year-old is unlikely to walk into the first-team at any of the clubs in the top five European leagues, the talent that Pellistri possesses could make him an exception. The concern for such a young player while moving to teams like Real Madrid or Manchester City will be playing time, and to that end, Newcastle United would be able to offer him a much more exciting footballing project. The trickster is well suited to joining the revolution that’s likely going to be underway on Tyneside next season, and it would be in the club’s best interest to step up their pursuit of the Uruguayan starlet.
