Leeds United’s chase for glory has been halted by the outbreak of Coronavirus and all the Leeds faithful are waiting with bated breath to know what would happen with this ongoing season. The Whites though also need to keep track of which players they would need or not need in the upcoming season.

Leeds United’s transfer plan will hinge on which division they might end up playing in the next campaign. Here are three players with whom they would look to part ways with in the summer.

Gaetano Berardi

The versatile defender has been at Elland Road since 2014, but it seems like he has run his course at the club. Bielsa has often used him as a backup centre back option this campaign. Berardi also put in some impressive displays in defence before the suspension of the league.

However, he is running out of contract in the summer, and if Leeds make it to the Premier League, then we think that they shouldn’t look to extend Berardi’s deal. He is already 31, and the Premier League could be too big a challenge for him at this stage of his career. United should aim higher and bring in a more long term and established centre back in the summer to replace him.

Barry Douglas

The fullback came in with a lot of reputation as many fans expected him to be a game-changing signing after he helped Wolves get to the Premier League. However, the Scotsman has firmly fallen down the pecking order this season after playing at left-back for most of the last campaign.

Douglas is seemingly now a third-choice option at left-back with Stuart Dallas and Ezgjan Alioski being ahead of him. Injuries have troubled Douglas off late, and Bielsa clearly doesn’t rate him much as he has started just four games in the Championship this season. Hence, the Whites should part ways with the 30-year-old in the summer.

Kiko Casilla

Another signing who came in with huge expectations but has disappointed for most parts. His eccentric goalkeeping cost United in last season’s playoff semi-finals when they were cruising against Derby County. The Spaniard has done well and rescued Leeds in patches, but a top goalkeeper should be more reliable. Casilla has let down the Whites on various occasions, and we think that it would be better if the club decides to part ways with him in the summer.
