As reported by Talksport, Gareth Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett has clarified that his client is happy at Real Madrid and does not plan to move to Premier League anytime soon.

“I don’t think [he’ll return to Tottenham], no. He’s in a very fortunate position. When his contract is up hopefully he will sit down with me and his family and decide what he wants to do.”, Barnett told Talksport.

In this article, we will discuss Tottenham should move on from this and prepare their potential summer overhaul in the right order.

How has Bale performed at Madrid this season?

Following the arrival of Eden Hazard, Bale was destined to move away from Santiago Bernabeu in the summer. He was very close to leaving for China before Real Madrid pulled the plug at the last minute. And the decision seems to have paid off for Zinedine Zidane, even though the Frenchman doesn’t share the best of relationships with the winger.

While Bale hasn’t been the best of performers for Real Madrid this season, his presence has been critical especially with Hazard struggling with injuries for the chunk of the campaign. As a result, the Welshman has featured in 12 matches this season, though he, too, missed quite a lot of games due to a calf and an ankle problem.

And with Real Madrid keen on once again imposing their dominance in European football, Bale’s experience could be key during the remainder of the campaign as the likes of Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior have very little experience, at the highest level of football.

Can Bale be useful at Tottenham?

Given his individual quality, Bale could be useful for any top club across Europe. But, he would also require massive wages, which doesn’t tune in well with Tottenham Hotspur, as far as their financial structure is considered. It essentially means that Bale’s potential arrival could disrupt the club’s financial balance, preventing them from signing any more star players.

Moreover, at the age of 30, Bale is certainly nearing the final phase of his career. Therefore, he cannot be considered as a long-term solution to Spurs’ attacking woes. And this is why the Lilwyhites should instead shift their focus elsewhere.

New winter signing Steven Bergwijn has already impressed in his debut at Tottenham. And if he can replicate his performances in the Premier League, he could be an asset for the club, thus allowing Spurs to solely focus on the addition of a new striker in the summer transfer window.
