Celtic Great Hails This Midfield Ace For Impact Vs Rangers: Why Lennon Needs Him To Maintain The Monopoly

The headstrong display from the Champions must have made Neil Lennon proud of his boys after a momentous 2-0 win at Ibrox against a resurgent Rangers side. The Hoops were the dominant force throughout and the players, as well as the gaffer, deserve praise for the perfect execution of gameplan.

The former Celtic manager Davie Hay has hailed the Northern Irishman for his tactical masterclass from the sideline and identified one player who, as per him, ensured all three points for the Hoops.

“One aspect of Neil Lennon’s Old Firm tactics that has been overlooked a little was the timing of his introduction of Olivier Ntcham to proceedings. The Frenchman was superb when he came on, and showed once again that when he is in the mood, there is probably not a more talented midfield player in the country.”

Hay penned the above in Evening Times to laud the Frenchman who exhibited his excellence since replacing James Forrest midway through the second half. He not only helped the Bhoys clam things down in the middle of the park but also set it up for Jonny Hayes late in the game to ensure all three points. It was a classic counter-attacking move from Celtic and Ntcham was the centre of attraction for his vision, positioning and the creative spark.

Why He Is Back Shaking Off The Controversy

The 23-year-old former Manchester City prodigy lambasted Celtic for not allowing him to complete a transfer and opened up on his desire to play in France in an interview to L’Equipe. This did not go down well at Parkhead but the player, who had an underwhelming 2018-19 campaign, failed to secure a switch before the summer deadline.

Lennon, however,  is gradually reintegrating him within the set-up and his Old Firm derby display must have been encouraging for the manager as well as the Celtic faithful. He stayed committed to his task, delivered on the pitch, and therefore, received plaudits from the former Hoops great.

Why Celtic Need Him To Retain Their Monopoly

Although the club have ample options in midfield (Scott Brown, Callum McGregor, Ryan Christie and Tom Rogic to name a few), Ntcham adds a different dimension in the centre of the pitch with his pace, power, dynamic moves, dribbling and vision. He has linked up sensationally with fellow compatriot Odsonne Edouard, and the pair would be pivotal in making it ‘nine in a row’ showcasing their sheer domination.
