Liverpool Could Ship Shaqiri To Fund A Move For This La Liga Winger: Right Choice For Klopp?

According to a recent report by the Daily Mirror, Liverpool are prepared to make a move to secure the services of Samuel Chukwueze from Villarreal CF during the summer transfer window. The same source has also revealed that the Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is ready to part ways with Xherdan Shaqiri this summer to raise funds for the La Liga prospect in this offseason.

Samuel Chukwueze’s Breakthrough Season In The La Liga

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a brilliant season with the Yellow Submarine after putting in a series of goal-scoring performances for them during this campaign. Chukwueze came through the youth set-up of the Diamond Academy back in his homeland before Villarreal decided to recruit him in the summer of 2017.

Since making a career-defining move to Spain, the Nigerian speedster has managed to fight his way up the club’s Under-19 side and B team to finally break into Javier Calleja’s first-team earlier this season.

Chukwueze has made a total of 38 appearances for Villarreal CF this term, registering eight goals while creating three assists across multiple competitions. He has also secured a single international cap for Nigeria thus far but has the potential to assume a significant role for his country if he can unlock his true potential in the coming years.

What Will The Nigerian Winger Offer On The Pitch?

Chukwueze can run with the ball at high speed as he has blistering pace under his belt. He is quite accurate with his shots from long range, and his attempts often pack a lot of power. If the Nigerian youngster can be more productive in the final third, then he could be nurtured into a world-class winger over the next few years.

There is no doubt that Chukwueze’s arrival will improve Klopp’s attacking options at Anfield. He will also bolster Liverpool’s squad-depth and increase competition for places within the Reds’ frontline. Xherdan Shaqiri has often been used as an impact substitute this season so if he ends up leaving Merseyside to make room for Chukwueze; then it is expected that the Nigerian talent will assume a similar role in Klopp’s team.

Chukwueze’s Acquisition: Good Choice For Klopp?

At 20, the Villarreal attacker still has a lot of time to develop his game and become a better player in the future. Thus, moving to Anfield this summer could be his dream opportunity to shine at the highest level while the Merseyside club can also benefit from acquiring his talents in the long-run.
