Celtic maintained the grip on their 8th consecutive Premiership title as they did light work of Motherwell in the end at Celtic Park as the Hoops secured a comfortable 4-1 win. However, the game was evenly matched for the most parts, and both teams went after each other as we saw some committed challenges.

Celtic opened the scoring through Scott Sinclair as he was found brilliantly by Ryan Christie’s cross. Odsonne Edouard added the second just before half time. Motherwell managed to pull one back amidst a controversial goal which brought more feistiness in the game. But Celtic wrapped up the three points by scoring two late goals.

Here is how the Bhoys fared on the day.

Scott Bain 6

Was hardly tested in goal. His distribution was on point once again. Made a decent save but was unable to prevent the followup which allowed Motherwell back in the game.

Dedryck Boyata 7.5

Was dominant in the air and won some crucial duels at the back. Often read the situation well before they could develop.

Kristoffer Ajer 7

Motherwell tested him on the physical front, but more often than not, the Norwegian had the answers to almost everything that was thrown at him.

Kieran Tierney 7

Made a comeback after a long injury layoff but never looked like he was playing after a long break. Drove the ball forward with intent and linked up play well from the left.

Jeremy Toljan 6

Had an okayish game overall. Nothing too bad, nothing too fancy.

Ewen Henderson 8.5

The 18-year-old made his debut and impressed. Covered every blade of grass and played some neat forward passes. Assisted the second goal with a pinpoint cross. One for the future for the Hoops.

Nir Bitton 6.5

Did an excellent job in midfield as he kept the possession well and allowed Rodgers to rotate his senior midfielders.

Ryan Christie 7

Linked up play well in the final third and picked out his team-mates well with some delicious balls into the box.

James Forrest 7.5

Had gone slightly off the boil in the past few weeks but was back at his best as he drove the ball forward with a lot of intent and pace. Worked hard until the final whistle.

Scott Sinclair 8

His finishing in the final third has become lethal in the past two months, and he continued his goal scoring exploit with a smart first-time finish. Could have had a brace easily but his movement and intelligence in the final third was impressive.

Odsonne Edouard 8

His brilliant free kick, in the end, was the highlight of the day. Edouard was too good for his opponents as the Well defenders found it hard to shrug him off the ball. Also scored an impressive glancing header.

Oliver Burke 7

Rodgers has a tough decision to make with regards to who to start up front as Burke again showed that he is worthy of leading the line. Scored through a brilliant first-time shot.

Jonny Hayes 6

Provided fresh legs as he came on for Tierney.

Jack Hendry 6

Did a decent job to see out the game.
