Everton are wrapped up in a time crunch with the summer transfer window right upon them and training camp about to start in the first week of July. Newly appointed manager, Marco Silva needs to address a few key issues in the side including the future of Mo Besic. The 25-year-old is due to return to the Goodison Park at the end of June after serving a loan spell with Championship outfit, Middlesbrough.

Sam Allardyce had no need for Besic during his tenure as the Toffees’ head coach and was quick to find him a temporary home. Despite struggling with injury during his entire spell at Merseyside, Besic quickly returned to first-team football at Boro and impressed aplenty.

The central midfielder finally received a good amount of playing time at Riverside and was able to prove his doubters wrong. Alongside the likes of Grant Leadbitter and Adam Clayton, Besic has added a different dynamic to the three-man midfield, both defensively and offensively.

The Bosnian solidified the central positions to help Boro make a late push for the playoffs. He even scored his first goal in English football with the side against Derby County earlier in the year. In just 15 Championship games, he established his name as one of the most commanding men in his position.

However, with the new managerial head at Everton, his future is still uncertain in the Premier League. He signed with the Toffees back in July 2014 from Hungarian outfit, Ferencvárosi TC for £4m.

Ever since his arrival, the midfielder has been blighted with recurring injuries that made him miss almost the whole of the 2016/17 campaign.

He never could adapt to the English game, which led him to drop down the pecking order behind the likes of Tom Davies, Idrissa Gueye and Morgan Schneiderlin. Now we are all aware of the talent he actually possesses and what he can to a team if given the freedom to express himself.

If Everton find him to be an extra to their future needs, Steven Gerrard should be quick to initiate a transfer talk with the bosses at Goodison. After all, Rangers could do wonders with a player like Besic in their midfield ranks.

The Teddy Bears are looking to build their team on a stronger platform, making them a prime challenger for the Scottish Premiership title. They are in search of players who are in good shape and can hit the ground running but are considered surplus at their current clubs and Besic perfectly fits their bill.

With Scott Arfield and Besic in the side, the Gers might finally have the talent and experience to start challenging Celtic for the domestic honours next season.
