Manchester United fans are about to receive a massive boost as AS Monaco fullback, Djibril Sidibe has reportedly agreed to hold talks with the club over a potential transfer. Jose Mourinho has been eyeing the Frenchman’s services for quite a while now and could be convinced into making a mammoth offer.

Sidibe is set to lead his national team from the right-back position this June for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He has already been capped 15 times by his country and is a cemented starter in the Monaco first team. The 25-year-old has chipped in with 8 assists and 2 goals from his 34 all around appearances this campaign. He is adventurous on the offensive end and knows how to pick out his teammates from the wide areas.

Sidibe used to play for rival French outfit, LOSC Lille having made 119 senior team appearances during his 4-year association. He was signed up by Monaco in the summer of 2016 for an undisclosed fee and on a 5-year contract.

He still has 3 more seasons to give to Leonardo Jardim’s side which could play into the negotiations for the player’s signature in the coming weeks. United are not shy of spending the extra bucks for a quality talent and Sidibe is expected to cost an eye-catching number.

He will certainly be a force on the defensive end, potentially replacing Antonio Valencia in the starting lineup. The latter has looked beaten for steam this term with no backup options in the squad and Mourinho relying heavily on him.

Valencia is 32 now and might already be on the last legs of his Premier League career. He has been a loyal servant of the club for close to a decade and is still a leading figure. However, there needs to be someone who will take the pressure off of him during the regular season.

The Red Devils plan on making an improved run for multiple honours next term including the removal of domestic crown off the heads of their bitter rivals, Manchester City. Pep Guardiola has left Mourinho’s side back in the dust this term by winning the league title by a record number of points, goal scored and matches won.

The Portuguese tactician seems hell-bent on upstaging the rival manager and Sidibe could help lead the charge from the back. The United defence needs some work and Mourinho should pursue his services aggressively even if he faces competition from other English sides.
