According to latest reports, Leeds United striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga is set to leave the club at the end of the season. The striker joined Leeds this season on loan from Hamburg and has enjoyed a fine year at the club. He has scored 10 league goals in 31 appearances and has become a fan favourite.

However, it seems that the player is now ready to move back to Germany as he bid farewell to the fans on social media. The reports were given a prior boost after it was discovered that Lasogga was not included in the club’s controversial post-season tour to Myanmar. The player is now set to join up with his teammates at his parent club who have just been relegated.

With Hamburg now dropping out of the top tier of German league football, they will face financial restrictions which will see them let go of certain players. Lasogga commands a high wage at the club and this might make him one of the players to be shown the door. Should he leave the club, his signature will be up for grabs with Leeds definitely one option.

As for the player himself, he has repeatedly expressed his happiness of being at Leeds.  “In the summer I have long wondered if the step to Leeds is the right one. Now I am convinced that in my situation at the HSV in the summer I got everything right.”

“In Hamburg, I was on ice. I didn’t get a chance and probably spent most of my time watching. If you only play for five minutes, then spend several months without a goal, it nags your self-confidence. It was important for me to just have fun again, to be successful and to have an environment that is 100 percent dedicated to me. That’s the case here.”

As for Leeds, the club had a rather poor season after an excellent start. They played some good football which was lost with the departure of Thomas Christiansen. Lasogga, however, played his part excellently scoring every third game. Moreover, his game added a lot more to the team than just scoring goals. He is a strong number nine who can hold the ball and spread the game for his team. His physical abilities make him a strong option to consider for Leeds next season.
