Arsenal has offered an improved contract to their midfielder Jack Wilshere in an effort to retain his services at the club beyond this summer. According to recent reports, the Gunners are prepared to pay him in excess of £100,000-a-week to try and secure the English midfielder’s long-term future in North London.

There are no doubts about Wilshere’s talents on the pitch as he has proven time and time again that he can be a match-winner for the North Londoners. However, the England international has been plagued with injuries in recent times which has seen him miss a lot of games for the Gunners over the last few campaigns. The Arsenal playmaker will be out of contract at the end of the current season which means that he will be free to choose his next destination.

The 26-year-old has featured in 38 matches for Arsenal this season, scoring two goals while providing six assists in all competitions. Some sources have also claimed that Wolves are interested in securing his services when the transfer window opens in the summer. Nuno Espirito Santo could be on the lookout for new players to try and strengthen his squad ahead of their new campaign in the top tier of English football.

The West Midlands side has managed to secure their promotion into the English top-flight by winning the Skybet Championship this season. They have been the best team in their league by a country mile and are now preparing for life in the Premier League.

The potential acquisition of Wilshere will undoubtedly bolster Santo’s midfield options ahead of the new season. Wolves have the likes of Roman Saiss, Ruben Neves, Alfred N’Diaye and Morgan Gibbs-White vying for a place in their first-team. The addition of Wilshere will definitely improve their squad significantly and add more competition for places in Santo’s team.

Wolves should do everything in their power to bring Wilshere to the Molineaux Stadium in this post-season as he will surely add a lot of creativity and experience to their midfield. However, the fact that Arsenal are still trying to persuade him to stay will come as a big blow for the West Midlands outfit. Moreover, the English midfielder’s track record with injuries will be a cause for concern as Santo’s club look to make their mark in the Premier League next term. Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Wilshere and whether the Wolves are able to convince him to switch clubs in the near future.
