Leicester City are closely monitoring Aston Villa midfielder, Jack Grealish for a potential transfer move in the summer. It has been reported that the attacking midfielder will cost the Foxes upwards of £20m and the entire move depends on Villa earning promotion to the playoffs.
Right now, Steve Bruce’s side are in the 4th spot of the Championship, just three points behind Cardiff City and the automatic promotion spot with just 3 games left to play catch-up.
If the Villans somehow fail to make the cut, Grealish might very well be offloaded in order to clear the wage books.
The 22-year-old banks north of 20,000-per-week and is expected to get a significant raise following a promotion to the Premier League. Whether it is going to Aston Villa or Leicester who gives him the new long-term deal is yet to be seen.
Grealish is a product of the Claret and Blues academy having joined the side when just 6 years old. It was not until January of 2015 against Blackpool in the FA Cup third round game that he was allowed his first start for the club.
Grealish scored his first goal against Leicester themselves in the 3-2 loss in September 2015. He has racked up over 100 senior team appearances with the club and has successfully marked his return to the starting XI after recovering from an unusual kidney injury.
The 7-time England U21 international has made up for his time on sidelines by delivering 7 assists this season along with a tally of 3 goals. His playmaking abilities are seemingly getting better with every passing season and will be warmly welcomed at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester have improved upon their previous season performances and are poised to finish in the 8th spot, behind Burnley.
However, they are nowhere close to the title-winning season they had enjoyed 3 years ago and are in need of some necessary reinforcements.
Ever since Danny Drinkwater made his way out of the club, the Foxes have been creatively starved in the midfield. They are overstacked in the striker department with 2 of them forced to leave the side out on loan in the January window.
They can afford to pay Villa’s asking price and a lot more by just trimming the fat.
