Sean Dyche’s Burnley have been defiant and consistently good which isn’t the tale you would use for Chelsea but little did it matter when the two teams clashed today. Conte’s men began on a positive note and got their lead through an own goal after Moses’s cross and they scored the winner in the second half through Moses’s smart finish again shortly after Barnes equalised. The Blues of London have got two back to back away wins of the year and will head to Wembley with confidence.
Here’s how the Chelsea players have been rated.
Thibaut Courtois – 7/10
Couldn’t do much for the goal his team conceded but he was pretty composed and alert otherwise although he was hardly threatened.
Victor Moses – 8/10
Quite a topsy-turvy game for the Nigerian today. He made some intelligent runs, forced an own goal and scored the winner but he gave away the ball too which lead to Burnley’s goal. He certainly has made the team selection tough for Conte now.
Caesar Azpiliceuta – 7/10
Competitive and solid for the most part of the game. It’s a delight to watch Azpiliceuta do his job so sincerely.
Gary Cahill – 7.5/10
Composed and sensible. Negated the aerial threat of Burnley and didn’t take any risks.
Antonio Rudiger – 7/10
He had a rusty start initially but he’s come a long way from that and today’s game is the proof for that. He was very calm and did his job neatly.
Emerson – 7/10
Quite an impressive performance. Tidy while defending and he has a very good control on the ball. Chelsea can certainly rely on him when Alonso isn’t there.
N’Golo Kante – 9/10
Simply brilliant and the Man of the Match in my opinion. He was at the right place on too many occasions. His ball control has improved and so has his passing.
Tiemoue Bakayoko – 5/10
Average and added nothing really.
Pedro Rodriguez – 6/10
Has to be much more precise with his passing and pace cannot help him always. Mediocre.
Olivier Giroud – 8/10
Sublime centre-forward play from the Frenchman. His touches were gorgeous, solid holdup play and got another dimension to Chelsea’s game.
Alvaro Morata – 6/10
Combined well with Giroud but missed a glorious chance and eventually, Burnley got back into the game when he didn’t kill the game off. He looks short of confidence.
Eden Hazard – 7/10
Brought some sharpness to the game that was lacking on the part of the Blues and increased the tempo of the game.
