Tottenham Hotspur are looking in ominous form in their last couple of matches in the Premier League, having decimated their opposition by goals galore, to notch up much-needed victories to strengthen their position in the league table.
They made their intention to dish out a strong performance this term very clear, by scoring on a regular basis, but it might take a more consistent performance from them to challenge for the title this season.
Reportedly, the North London club is looking very keen to add some new players to their side, who have made a name for themselves in Europe in the last few seasons. Oguzhan Ozyakup, the Turkish midfield sensation, is high on the hit list for Spurs this season, and they look quite keen to add him to the squad in January.
Ozyakup was a part of Tottenham’s derby rivals Arsenal’s Youth Academy and stayed at the North London club from 2008 to 2012. He won quite a few accolades and played as a regular in Arsenal’s youth side. He made his first appearance for the senior side in 2011 and was used very rarely as a substitute on very few occasions.
In 2012, the Turkish midfielder took a decision to move back to his home country with Besiktas and has been an integral part of the Turkish Super Lig club ever since.
However, Tottenham’s renewed interest in the midfielder might be reason enough for the player to make a comeback to the Premier League. A number of big-name clubs from all over Europe are looking to bag the influential youngster in the next transfer window including the likes of Italian giants Inter Milan, who might make a bid for Ozyakup in January.
The Turkish club might be in for a big money offer for their prized possession from the Serie A outfit, who want the youngster to be a part of their line-up without much ado. However, there has been no confirmation of any deal by Besiktas so far and thus Spurs might have a chance snap him up in January.
Ozyakup was one of the mainstays in the midfield for his team in the last season and has played a very important role so far this season as well. He has been one of the most important factors for Besiktas in their triumphs in the Turkish Super Lig.
Tottenham will be hopeful that the player can have the same kind of influence on their team if they are able to land him, fighting away all other suitors. Should Pochettino go all in for him?
