Nothing has gone in Everton’s favour so far. The Toffees had the busiest summer among the top clubs as Ronald Koeman went on to refurbish his squad completely, but his plans have not been able to give the club the desired results.

Despite bringing the likes of Sandro Ramirez, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Davy Klaassen, the Merseyside club have failed to give a proper account of their form and the Dutch gaffer now wants more reinforcements in the winter transfer window.

They have been linked with a number of strikers and Bas Dost is the latest player who has been linked with the club. The Sporting Lisbon frontman is being eyed to solve the goal-scoring crisis at Goodison Park at the moment.

Everton have been unimpressive in front of the goal. Koeman allowed Romelu Lukaku to join Manchester United this summer and brought in Sandro and Wayne Rooney to replace him. But both the players are struggling to get used to Koeman’s plans and so far have been a big flop.

Lukaku’s presence was the main reason for their success last season and the big Belgian’s trickery in the box was a terrifying scene for the opponent defenders. Koeman failed to land his prime target Olivier Giroud and striking problems might see him pay the price, going by the current situations. He is likely to go for another striker in January and Dost tops his list.

The lanky forward has been a hit in Portugal and has netted 41 goals since he arrived at the club. The six feet five striker, would bring a similar aspect to that of Lukaku’s playing style and can be a huge asset for the Toffees. Koeman doesn’t have the dearth of playmakers in his side but the lack of a finisher is hurting them.

Wayne Rooney has been a disappointment as the former Manchester United star failed to buck up his good start at the Goodison Park. He arrived at the Merseyside after a long gap and things haven’t turned out that way he had hoped.

Dost is the kind of strikers Koeman would love to have at his disposal. He is a typical fox in the box striker, is strong in the air but more importantly, knows his way to goal.

Everton director of football Steve Walsh personally scouted the player a number of times and seems to be happy with the kind of response he got. Owner Farhad Moshiri might have to splash more money in January in a bid to save his side from further embarrassment and Dost could ease the pressure.
