Newcastle United faced disappointment in their last match against Southampton, which ended in a stalemate. However, the Magpies are looking to make progress this season and hang onto their place in the top half of the league table, making it a successful comeback to the Premier League.
The Tyneside club might expect a tough fight from Crystal Palace, who are having a pretty forgettable season so far this term, losing seven of their first eight matches. However, they achieved the incredible feat of beating the reigning champions Chelsea in their last match at Selhurst Park, which will definitely provide the Eagles with a much-needed impetus before their next match against Newcastle.
The Magpies’ lineup might look like this in their next match.
Defence
The Newcastle United defenders have performed well so far this season, with their captain Jamaal Lascelles looking in fine form since the start of the term. The Englishman has marshalled his troops in the best possible way and has also scored two goals so far this season to win matches for his side.
The likes of DeAndre Yedlin, Florian Lejeune and Javier Manquillo will need to share the responsibility with their skipper to keep the Palace from breaching their backline.
Robert Elliot will be starting in the goal for the Magpies.
Midfield
The midfielders will need to perform better than they have done so far this season to hit the ground running. With the likes of Matt Ritchie, Issac Hayden, the scorer of one of the goals for his side, along with Jonjo Shelvey and Christian Atsu adorning the four-man midfield, will need to be vigilant to take their side home.
Attack
Newcastle United have a fairly decent attacking lineup, with Joselu and Ayoze Perez leading them into the opposition box and creating opportunities consistently. While Joselu has already notched up two goals to show for his efforts in the Premier League so far, Ayoze Perez is also looking to keep up with his partner and scored the second goal against Southampton to have a share of the spoil.
Both the players need to be at their best to score this weekend against a side that will be charged up after their shock win against Chelsea. Here is how they might line up:
