Liverpool are on the verge of making a big decision regarding the future of their talismanic player Phillipe Coutinho and might let go of him in January. He is being pursued by the Spanish giants Barcelona since the last term and the deal might finally go through for the Blaugrana this winter.
Reportedly, the Reds have agreed to the deal and are on the verge of losing one of their most influential players at the moment. He has performed brilliantly for the Merseyside club in the last few seasons, leading them to a fourth-place finish in the last term, helping book a place in the Champions League. This term as well, he has already scored two goals in the Premier League in the last two matches as an evidence of his immaculate form.
It goes without saying that it will be a major setback for Liverpool as they will have to do without their Brazilian genius when the business end of the season draws closer and it is imperative for them to find a viable option who can replace him in the squad.
Jurgen Klopp might already have his eyes on a number of players, who have been dishing out memorable performances for their respective sides, and here are three such realistic targets Klopp can replace Coutinho with in January:
Lucas Moura (PSG):
The 25-year-old is one of the most highly regarded players in European football and has been plying his trade at the Parc Des Princes, helping Paris Saint Germain make a mark in the domestic as well as European competitions. However, there is a chance that the player might part ways with current side, falling down the pecking order since the arrival of his compatriot Neymar this summer and can be a good replacement in January for his national teammate Coutinho at Anfield.
Julian Draxler (PSG)
The German sharpshooter has been in brilliant form and is scoring goals on a regular basis for Paris Saint Germain this season so far. He also led his national side to triumph in the Confederations Cup earlier this year and is considered as one of the best players in European football. The Reds will not be making a mistake if they look to bring in the “Die Mannschaft” star in January to replace Coutinho.
Max Meyer (Schalke)
Another German midfielder, who has performed exceptionally well in the last few seasons for Schalke in Bundesliga is Max Meyer. He can be a good replacement for the Brazilian ace at Anfield in the next term. His deal comes to an end at the end of the season and Schalke might be eager to earn some funds from his sale and sell him in January.
