Crystal Palace are currently going through a big crisis. The East Londoners are yet to register a point in the Premier League this season and if things continue like this, they will be submerged soon in the deep agony of relegation.
According to reports, Palace are considering to offer a short-term contract to Carlton Cole. The former Celtic striker has been released by Indonesian club Persib Bandung as he endured a tough spell at the club.
The 33-year-old does have enough experience in the Premier League and Roy Hodgson has been searching for a player which matches his profile. Palace’s forward Christian Benteke is out for a prolonged period and the gaffer is ready to offer Cole a chance to retrieve his career.
Selhurst Park is in a mess right now. The East Londoners have lost their first six games and looking at their fixtures, they could become the very first club in the country to lose their all first eight matches.
In a bid to bring stability Hodgson wants an experienced face and who could be better than Cole. The 33-year-old has played close to 300 matches in the top tier and is very well acquainted with the do’s and don’ts of the Premier League.
Hodgson would be able to bring out the best from the player who has had a pretty flattering career at the London Stadium. Palace are looking for some temporary relief and are looking at the free agents right now.
But is said the veteran striker is said to have an interest in a stint in the Championship where he would be able to guarantee himself a more game time. He has seven caps for the Three Lions and is right now one of the in-demand forwards in the country.
A number of clubs including the likes of Bolton and Hull City are also keeping their doors open for the former Chelsea striker. Cole had a brief stint with Celtic but had to leave the club by mutual consent as he failed to grab much attention in Scotland.
Cole had a number of duds in his career and is now ready to steady his sinking career. Hodgson is said to have an interest in the player who also hails from the same place. The former England gaffer is yet to give his green signal for a possible move although he hasn’t ruled it out either. So is Cole a decent option for Palace?
