Every summer has been evident to a record-breaking transfer for the past few years. The likes of Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Paul Pogba have all joined the list recently and it is not going to stop anytime soon. There are still two months left before the window opens and speculations are ripe involving many players linked wth a move to multi-millionaire sides like Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City and more.
The possibility of such a transfer has gained further ground with Real Madrid’s transfer ban getting cut short by a year and United’s failure to achieve any such silverware with a star-studded squad. City’s trophy-less season and Barcelona’s European disappointments have also contributed majorly.
Here are 3 players who could feature in the first £100 million club when these European sides are ready to splash the cash this summer.
Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid):
Things would have certainly looked different if Atletico Madrid had managed a positive result at Santiago Bernabeu in the midweek Champions League fixture. But the Rojo Blancos lost it completely, succumbing to a 3-0 first leg defeat. A three-goal deficit will be quite an uphill task to complete even at the Vicente Calderon against an in-form Real Madrid side and this could very well spell the end for Diego Simeone and Griezmann at Atletico Madrid.
United have been heavily linked with the player for over a year now, and there is a high possibility of that deal happening this summer. The Frenchman looks ideal for United’s toothless attack, which is bound to get blunter without Zlatan Ibrahimovic next season.
Andrea Belotti (Torino):
The Italian youngster has garnered huge attention playing in the Serie A this season. Although Torino has been an under average side on a whole, his performances have been highly applauded by one and all. With clubs like Juventus, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Arsenal and many more pursuing him for the summer, Torino has hiked his release clause to over £90 million aiming to retain his services.
But, given the fierce competition in Europe, nothing would matter except the best. And Belotti has been one of the best in his trade.
Kylian Mbappe (AS Monaco):
The sensation of the 2016-17 season is bound to gather plenty for his club if he decides to leave. The young French striker has been likened to Thierry Henry and he has justly shown familiar traits in his offensive approach.
Monaco’s dream European campaign looks to have come to an end now with Juventus winning the away leg 2-0 and unless they bring out something miraculous out of the bag, the Ligue 1 leaders will have to settle for a semi-final finish yet again. It means Mbappe could make a move outside France if the right offer comes. At only 18, his abilities will be highly prized in the transfer market and he could easily cross the £100 million margin if he is sold.
