Watford suffered their second successive defeat in the Premier League against Arsenal and would have to wait for their first win of the season. Mazzarri’s side were lackluster in the first half and conceded three goals which effectively killed the tie. The team did make an effort to make things interesting in the second half but could manage only a single goal until the end. Let’s look at how the Watford players performed on a scale of 10.

Heurelho Gomes (5/10)

Conceded 3 goals but saved a few also. Wasn’t helped at all by his defence.

Christian Kabasele (4/10)

Won his headers and tackles and made some clearances but was left dumbfounded when Mesut Ozil ghosted in to score the goal. Couldn’t deal with the crosses well.

Sebastian Prodl (4/10)

Was at fault at the back for the goals and looked out maneuvered very easily by the Arsenal forwards.

Younes Kaboul (5/10)

His first start for his new club didn’t go according to his plan. Was not able to provide the solidity needed.

Nordin Amrabat (4/10)

Very poor in his tackling and couldn’t deal with the likes of Sanchez who continually got the better of him in the wide areas.

Valon Behrami (4/10)

Passed the ball well but was not able to provide anything for his team either going forward or retreating back

Etienne Capoue (6/10)

Tried very hard and worked his socks off but got no support. Looked like he is fighting a lost cause but to his credit, he kept on going at least and provided some support in the forward areas.

Adlène Guedioura (5/10)

Passed the ball well but couldn’t do much defensively

Jose Holebas (6/10)

Tried his bit from the wide areas and made good advances, created a good chance early in the game.

Odion Ighalo (6/10)

Was good with the ball and showed good movement, had two shots on target, could have done a bit more with his shooting.

Troy Deeney (4/10)

Disappointing from the Watford captain, was poor with his passes and missed a very good opportunity as well.

Subs

Pereyra (8/10)

Came on in the 46th minute and immediately changed the game, made some excellent runs forward and scored the only goal for his side. Great performance on his first outing.

Janmaat (6/10)

Provided the forward threat in the second half when he came on, got some crosses into the box.

Success (6/10)

Another player who impressed as a sub. Passed the ball with great accuracy and made some telling runs into space with creating an excellent chance right at the very end. Looks like an exciting player.
