Rangers are winless in three games in all competitions and will host in-form Championship side Queen of the South on Tuesday at the Ibrox Stadium. They have already fallen much behind in the title race sitting four points off the top-placed Celtic who also have a game in hand. 2 wins, 3 draws and one loss- they have seemed far from a side capable of challenging Celtic for the title but the League Cup is a nice opportunity for the Gers to win some silverware. They have done so well so far and beating the Championship leaders on Tuesday will help them qualify for the semis.
Rangers were pretty poor against Ross County on Saturday and could not find a single goal past their opponents’ defence. The 0-0 draw against Ross County stretches their winless run to three games now which includes a 5-1 hammering at the hands of rivals Celtic. Queen of the South, on the other hand, have won all of their last six games in all competitions and could create an upset against the Gers.

Defence
We can expect experienced Matt Gilks to start under the bar ahead of Wes Foderingham who is likely to be rested. James Tavernier and Lee Wallace will keep their places in the full-back positions. Rob Kiernan is out with a minor injury. Experienced Philippe Senderos is back from a suspension but considering the debut he had for the Gers, it’s unlikely that Warburton will look towards the Swiss international unless resources are really stretched. So, as things stand, Clint Hill and Danny Wilson will start at the heart of the defence.
Midfield
Andy Halliday should start in defensive midfield. With Joey Barton suspended by Rangers for three weeks, there is a big void to fill in the middle of the park. Josh Windass and Niko Kranjcar are likely to start as the two box to box midfielders. Rangers have not at all impressed in midfield so far this season and this will be a game where Warburton must get the best out of his midfield players.
Attack
Michael O’Halloran is likely to get a start on the right flank. Harry Forrester should also make the starting XI and is expected to start on the left. Martyn Waghorn is yet to fire this season after his comeback from injury and the Englishman is likely to spearhead the attack for the Gers.
