Leicester City faces Chelsea in the 3rd round of the EFL tie as they look to carry on the recently acquired momentum from their consecutive 3-0 victories over Club Brugge and Burnley. The Champions were slow off the blocks and it was understandable to an extent with all the euphoria and the virgin nature of their standing at the beginning of the league. So used to being the underdogs and taken lightly, things seemed more difficult with teams lining up with proper Plan B’s against them. But Ranieri will have been relieved by the latest wins which have lifted them into the 11th position and the Foxes will have to slowly adapt to a system which will yield the optimum amount of success for them this season.
Their next matchup will be with Chelsea and against the norm, it will be the Foxes who have to deal with the multiple fixtures and have to manage Champions league, Premier League, and League Cup matches in a matter of 7 days. It will be interesting to see how the Ex-Tinkerman approaches this fixture and the teamsheet will give us an insight into their priorities this season. With a core group that was used by Leicester for most of their matches featuring so prevalently, it is anybody’s guess whether he will be making widespread alterations.
HERE IS T4O’s PREDICTED LEICESTER CITY LINE-UP VS CHELSEA (4-4-2)
DEFENCE
Ron-Robert Zieler is expected to keep his place with Schmeichel unlikely to be risked. The new signing kept a clean sheet against Burnley and will be hoping for something similar on Tuesday. Simpson will likely be at right-back while Luis Hernandez will hope to feature at centre-back along with Robert Huth or Wes Morgan. Christian Fuchs might get a rest with Jeffrey Schlupp providing a more than capable alternative.
MIDFIELD
Andy King and Amartey look like a good shout to line-up in midfield and will look to grasp their opportunity with central slots still up for grabs. Riyad Mahrez is likely to get a rest and the match might well be a good opportunity for Leicester to throw surprise package Bartosz Kapustka into the fray. Demarai Gray is a favourite to start on the left-wing.
ATTACK
Jamie Vardy will be more than happy to play the match from the onset but maybe it will be a wise decision to start him from the bench and field a front two of Ulloa and Okazaki, with Musa also an option to feature from the start.
