Arsenal are among the host of European clubs who are interested in Ajax’s young winger, Justin Kluivert. The 18-year-old is the son of former Dutch striker, Patrick Kluivert and by the talent that he is showcasing at such a young age, the apple has not fallen far from the tree.
Justin is a first team starter already for the Eredivisie outfit with 26 appearances this season along with 7 goals and 4 assists. He is a product of the Ajax youth program and made his debut only last season on 16 September 2016 while playing for Dutch second division club, Jong Ajax.
He has been capped for the Netherlands youth sides a total 42 times and is pegged to follow in his father’s tracks in the near future.
Some critics might question his 5 feet 7 inches figure but do not let his size influence you. He is as agile as he is fast on the flanks and has the ability to breeze past defenders on the dribble.
At such a young age, Kluivert has already shown signs of his remarkable scoring ability and slotted in his first career hat trick against Roda JC back in November – a feat his father has never achieved in the Dutch league.
It is only expected that the highly rated prodigy would start getting calls from the European elites. His current contract is set to run till the summer of 2019 and no talks of an extension have come out of the club ranks yet. With just one year left in his deal, Arsenal will be in the driving seat to pry him away on a favourable bid.
The Gunners have bolstered the club ranks through the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund for £60m. They have also signed Henrikh Mkhitaryan on a swap deal for their wantaway former winger, Alexis Sanchez.
Mesut Ozil has also been handed over a massive contract and extensions are being prepared for both Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey.
Arsenal are a bit understaffed in the wing department after the exit of both Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain over the past two windows. The club already has ball dominant players like Ozil and Mkhitaryan in the final third who needs a player to launch ball towards on the flanks.
Kluivert can be a bright spark in an experienced squad and has the years in front of him to develop into the English game. Wenger has already given club youngsters, Reiss Nelson, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Edward Nketiah opportunities to shine for the first team and Kluivert is already a proven star who can hope for a first-team place.
