European champions Real Madrid are planning an audacious swap deal between Gareth Bale and Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah, as per reports from Spanish news source, Don Balon.
Mohammed Salah has been in fiery form this season, after joining from Roma last summer. The Egyptian has already netted a whopping 23 goals whilst providing eight assists in just 29 games all competition.
Real Madrid have taken note of his blistering performances and are apparently interested in a swap deal with their Welsh superstar Gareth Bale.
Bale has another victim of unfortunate luck, as the Welshman’s career at the Santiago Bernabeu has been marred by a string of frequent injuries, especially in the last couple of seasons. And even though, he has scored four goals this season, Bale is highly expected to leave Real Madrid next summer.
While there’s no doubt that both the players are world class individuals, does a swap deal such as this make any sense for Liverpool?
Considering the fact that Liverpool have just lost their prized playmaker Philipe Coutinho to FC Barcelona, the Reds might refrain from agreeing to the swap deal. Salah has been an integral part of Liverpool’s attacking setup, which has been one of the best in Europe this season.
The former Chelsea player took no time in settling into the Premier League and is performing significantly better than his previous stint in the English top flight. At just 25, Salah is already regarded as one of the best wingers in the Premier League.
On the flip side, we have Gareth Bale, who is without a doubt, one of the best British players in the current generation, if not the best. Bale has performed very well after moving to the Bernabeu in 2014, but due to frequent injuries, his place in the Real Madrid setup has been highly questioned in recent seasons.
A move back to the Premier League is looking very likely for the Welsh International, with Manchester United and Chelsea reportedly interested. He will, no doubt, be a stunning addition to Liverpool.
However, Mohamed Salah has performed in a different stratum this season, which was made him one of the best players playing in Europe this season. He is significantly younger than Gareth Bale, meaning he has the potential to further eclipse the accomplishments of the Welshman in the coming years. Therefore, Mohamed Salah is definitely someone Liverpool can’t afford to lose at the moment.
