West Ham United look set to miss out on Anderlecht midfielder Leander Dendoncker this month. According to recent reports in the Belgian press, the Hammers are set to lose out on the Belgian midfielder along with Manchester United with his current club not willing to do business in the ongoing transfer window. Anderlecht are currently leading the Belgian league by 13 points and are in no mood to part ways with one of the key members of their squad. West Ham boss David Moyes is desperate to make some new additions to his squad this month and was hoping to seal a deal for Dendoncker.
However, with the Hammers set to miss out on the 22-year-old, let’s take a look at three alternative options for David Moyes to consider.
Rodrigo Hernández
The 21-year-old midfielder has put in some dazzling displays at the heart of the Villarreal CF midfield and has featured in 26 matches for the La Liga club in all competitions this season. The Spanish international has helped his side climb to 6th place in the La Liga standings, just four points behind 4th placed Real Madrid. His influence in midfield has been key in their good run in the league this season. He will be the perfect alternative for Dendoncker for this Hammers team who are desperate to add some stability to their midfield. A partnership with Mark Noble in the West Ham midfield could work wonders for the East London club in their quest to save themselves from a possible relegation at the end of the season.
Wilfred Ndidi
The Leicester City midfielder has been a strong figure for the Foxes at the centre of the park last year and at 21, the Nigerian international still has his peak years ahead of him. A potential move for the former Genk midfielder might turn out to be a shrewd signing for David Moyes’s team. Ndidi has already proven himself in the Premier League and has been consistent for the West Midlands club this season. He has featured in 24 matches for the former Premier League champions and has been a regular starter under manager Claude Puel.
Denis Zakaria
The Swiss youngster has been a driving force in the Borussia Mönchengladbach midfield this season. Since his move from BSC Young Boys last summer, the 21-year-old has played in 19 matches for the Bundesliga club and has scored once and made two assists so far in all competitions. He has the immense potential and could be a big hit at West Ham if they decide to opt for his signature in the near future.
