Arsenal seem to have found some momentum in recent games and are now just 4 points off the 2nd place in the PL points table, 12 games into the season. The manager will be happy with the way his squad has performed so far this season but he has a few problems at the moment, with a few of his first-team stars, ready to quit the club in the near future.
The likes of Jack Wilshere, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are all unsure about their future at the club and one player that has now joined the list is Colombian international David Ospina. The lack of game time, coupled with interests from his former club Atletico Nacional, might persuade the 29-year-old to leave, having made just three appearances in all competitions this season.
If he leaves, here are three replacements Arsenal should look to sign:
Peter Gulacsi (RB Leipzig):
The former Liverpool man, who failed to make an impression in his stint at Anfield, Gulacsi, is currently the first choice shot-stopper for Bundesliga sensation RB Leipzig. The 27-year old has recently been linked with Arsenal and their rivals Chelsea for a move next summer but if the Gunners end up losing Ospina, they could go all in for the Hungarian ace. He has 14 international appearances and is an established customer, who can take over the charge at the Emirates, even after Peter Cech leaves.
Keylor Navas (Real Madrid):
Another player recently linked with a move to Arsenal, along with Liverpool, is Real Madrid ace Keylor Navas. Still the first choice at the Bernabeu, the 30-year old is tipped to be the weak link at the club and has constantly been linked with an exit. The Spanish outfit are sure to spend on a big name come next summer, leaving Navas out in the cold and Arsenal can surely rescue him, replacing him with Ospina, giving him a chance to take over the mantle at the club after Petr Cech.
Jack Butland (Stoke City):
The English international has been at the Bet365 for quite some time now but having emerged as one of the choices for the no.1 position for the English national team, Butland will surely start attracting interests from the top clubs. At 24, he may still have to gather some experience but if Arsenal are able to sign him, he can learn from the master that is Cech and give himself enough time to turn into Arsenal’s first choice in years to come. He probably is the best replacement for Ospina, Arsenal can get.
