Claude Puel’s arrival at Leicester City has lifted the mood at the King Power and has certainly eased tensions. The biggest test however of Puel’s came soon enough, as Pep Guardiola lead his Manchester City to the home of the Foxes. As expected, the best side indeed won the game but Leicester put in a spirited shift and went down fighting bravely.
Goals from Jesus and De Bruyne made the difference but there are a lot of positives to look ahead for in Puel’s time. As of now, here’s how the Foxes have been rated:-
GK: Kasper Schmeichel – 8/10
Made a huge save to deny Jesus from a very close distance and he tried his best whenever he could. Unlucky to concede from De Bruyne’s belter but there’s no shame in that.
RB : Danny Simpson – 4/10
He had a heck-load of trouble against Sane today and he certainly didn’t live up to the challenge as he lost Sane several times in this region.
CB: Wes Morgan – 5/10
Made a few notable blocks and interceptions but couldn’t do more than that to stop the goals.
CB: Harry Maguire – 4/10
Got caught out completely for city’s opener in which they engineered some lovely football. He couldn’t get close to them and suffered.
LB: Christian Fuchs – 6/10
Did a tidy job on sterling and kept him quiet.
CM: Vicente Iborra – 7/10
He fought really well in the middle. Sent Vardy free with a clever ball in the opening few minutes but Vardy was brought down controversially. He’s growing into a good player for Leicester now.
CM: Wilfried Ndidi – 5/10
Effective on few occasions but the pace of City and the swiftness was too much for him.
CM: Marc Albrighton – 4/10
Due to tactical reasons, he played in the centre but he couldn’t make a huge impact.
LM: Demerai Gray – 3.5/10
Faded away as the game went on and he hardly made Walker sweat.
RF: Riyad Mahrez – 7/10
He took the game to Delph and made the left back to work hard. He got a ball away superbly but Leicester couldn’t convert. Decent and promising.
FW: Jamie Vardy – 7/10
Kompany’s challenge on him early on to prevent him from getting free deserved something more than a yellow. His pace again was the nuisance for City and he showed determination to fight in some areas especially when Fernandinho took the ball near the corner post.
Substitutes:-

He wasn’t incorporated into the game at all.
FW: Islam Slimani – N/A
