Everton are currently finding themselves in all sorts of trouble in the Premier League so far this term. They have won only two matches out of their first eight and are standing in the 16th position, with a chance of possible relegation at the end of the season.
The Toffees spent a lot of money in the summer transfer window and added a number of new players to their side. However, most of them have failed to make justice to their price tag and have performed below par so far this season, leaving their side in absolute dire straits.
The Merseyside club has already conceded 13 goals this term, making it one of their worst starts in the last few seasons in top-flight football. Though they have good defenders in their squad, they have not been able to perform as expected so far this season, making it tougher and tougher by the game.
To deal with this crisis, they are now looking to add another defender to their side, who is performing well on a consistent basis for his current club. According to recent reports, they have got their eyes on the young left back Ruben Vinagre. The Portuguese youngster is currently plying his trade for the Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers and has attracted interests from a number of big-name clubs in the Premier League.
With the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal monitoring the 18-year-old, who has joined the Wolves from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco on a season-long loan, the Merseyside club is also looking to rope him in as a competition for their mercurial full-back Baines. There are currently no replacements at their disposal for the 32-year-old Englishman and that might be a problem in the future.
The Portuguese youngster is has impressed a number of experts with his brilliant skills and ability to defend well. He is also known for making darting runs down the left flank, often leaving a trail of defenders behind.
Apart from being a sharpshooter from distance, the fullback is also capable of dishing out crisp passes and delightful crosses into the final third, providing his teammates with the opportunity to score goals.
The Toffees might use the pace and prowess of the 18-year-old left back to initiate attacks as well. There has been a dearth of goal scoring opportunities for them this season, and Ruben Vinagre can be a good addition to the side from that aspect too. So should Koeman go for him?
