It has been a busy summer at Elland Road. Garry Monk became the seventh Leeds United manager under the ownership of Massimo Cellino and has utilised the summer transfer window to bolster every department of the squad he inherited from Steve Evans. However, the squad still looks far from one capable of challenging for a promotion.
Despite the signing of Swedish forward Marcus Antonsson, Leeds United should still move for another quality forward or else they will be left behind other Championship clubs. Chris Wood and Marcus Antonsson are the only two strikers at Elland Road right now, so it is clearly visible that the Whites are also short on numbers. Wood and Antonsson have scored just five goals between them so far this season. So, we might be able to see some deadline day drama from the Whites moving for a new forward.
Here are three strikers the Whites could go for on the deadline day.
Peter Odemwingie
The highly experienced Nigerian attacker is right now a free agent and can be a decent addition to the Whites. With his ability to play as a number nine or on the flanks, the 35-year-old will be able to offer another option to Monk. For a free transfer, a player with such an enormous experience would be a decent signing for the Whites.
Nicklas Bendtner
The 28-year-old is right no a free agent following his release from Wolfsburg this summer. If not for his arrogance and attitude problems, the Danish international could have had a much better career. Still only 28, Leeds can take a chance with the Dane. Bendtner is still a player with an exceptional quality and has plenty to offer as well. At Elland Road, he might be able to find his true potential.
Jordan Rhodes
The 26-year-old striker joined Middlesbrough from Blackburn last January only but is finding life hard in the Premier League. Rhodes is yet to make a single appearance for the Teessiders this season and there won’t be too many chances coming his way with Alvaro Negredo at the club. Leeds could try their luck to bring Rhodes back to the Championship. The 26-year-old has been one of the standout players in the Championship in the past few seasons and could easily turn around the fortunes of the Yorkshire club.
