Borussia Dortmund will look to continue their impressive start to the Bundesliga season as they host RB Leipzig in this weekend’s topspiel. It will be the first real test for the Black and Yellows following a string of matches against low-tier opponents.
Peter Bosz’s men are currently leading the league with 19 points, five points superior of second-placed Bayern Munich. They are also the only unbeaten team in the league so far, and they will have no intention of losing it either against Leipzig on Saturday. Leipzig, on the other hand, will also seek a much-needed victory as they look to climb up the Bundesliga table.
Here’s the predicted Borussia Dortmund lineup to feature against Die Roten-Bullen on Saturday.
Defense
Roman Burki has been the best goalkeeper in the league this season, managing five clean sheets in seven games. He will be the man between the sticks for Dortmund.
Sokratis and Marc Bartra are expected once again partner alongside each other in central defence. Lukasz Piszczek has been ruled out for a few weeks, due to an injury he suffered during the International break. Jeremy Toljan is expected to deputize him as the right back, while, Dan-Axel Zagadou will feature as the left back for Dortmund. Omer Toprak will have to sit out on the bench due to Bartra’s availability.
Midfield
Julian Weigl will sit in as the holding midfielder. The youngster is expected to replace Nuri Sahin at the centre of the park. He will be partnered alongside Gonzalo Castro and Mario Gotze, in a slightly advanced position. The return of Mario Gotze could be a gigantic boost for the home side as they aim to unlock the sturdy defence of RB Leipzig.
However, we could also see Shinji Kagawa, who played a wonderful game against Augsburg on the teamsheet, as well as Mahmoud Dahoud at the centre of the park. But Castro and Gotze are termed as favourites to start against Leipzig.
Attack
It will be interesting to see who Peter Bosz opts to start in the Dortmund offensive line. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is expected to lead the charge. Christian Pulisic will probably be rested for the clash, after failing to guide his country to a ticket to next year’s World Cup. Inform Maximilian Philipp will replace the American on the left wing, while Andriy Yarmolenko will start on the other side of the wing.
