Anthony Martial has lit up the current season with his trickery and skills. The Manchester United forward has been in red-hot form and has been among the goals lately.
Despite accumulating only one start in the Premier League, the youngster already has three goals and two assists in his kitty and has been one of the key performers for the Red Devils, who have made a thumping start to their season.
If reports are to be believed Barcelona are keeping a track of the player and are interested in bringing him to Nou Camp. The Catalan giants suffered a severe jolt when their new recruit Ousmane Dembele suffered a horrific hamstring injury and has been ruled out for at least four months.
Ernesto Valverde doesn’t have the required strike force, especially on the left side and it could easily lead to their downfall. Barcelona have made a very strong start to the season and the gaffer wants more reinforcements to continue their smooth run this campaign.
Martial was having a tough time last season as he endured a difficult campaign. But from the start of the current season, the forward has started to get back to life at Old Trafford and has often been seen tormenting opponent defenders.
Marcus Rashford has been the first choice on the left wing as Jose Mourinho has mostly used the French international as an impact substitute. He has not been on the good books of the gaffer but Martial’s attitude and his efforts on the training ground seem to have won the plaudits of the gaffer.
Martial arrived from Monaco in a £36m initial deal and a number of add-ons were put in the contract which will escalate the total transfer fee. The French international has been likened to Thiery Henry but is still struggling to cement a place in the starting lineup.
The Catalans want to make a use of the current situations and could raid the club for the young forward. Currently, all the attacking positions have been occupied by a number of players at Manchester United and it is not going to be easy for the youngster to dislodge any of them from their positions.
Martial has a contract till 2019 and given his current form, he is likely to be offered a new contract to fend off suitors. Mourinho is particularly very clear about whom to keep and whom to sell and it is clear he is very impressed with Martial and the player is in his long-term plans. So can Barca lure him to Nou Camp?
