Manchester United are currently in a gallant form in the Premier League as well as the Champions League, winning matches on a regular basis. They are on the top of their game at the moment, scoring more than three goals on an average in the majority of their matches this season.
Though the forwards are performing exceedingly well for his side so far this season, gaffer Jose Mourinho is looking very much worried about the composition of his defence, with no specialist player at his disposal for the left back position. The first choice left back of his side, Luke Shaw, is out with a prolonged injury and might have to wait for his turn to get back into the starting lineup.
While makeshift defenders like Daley Blind and Ashley Young are performing well enough for their side, the Portuguese mastermind is looking to bring a player into the side who can be a permanent solution to his current defensive woes. Among a number of players who are eyed by him to be added to the squad in the future, the name of the Spanish ace Jordi Alba is right on the top of his target list.
The 28-year-old defender is presently playing for the Spanish giants Barcelona and has been a part of the side since 2012. The full-back has played a very important in stabilising the defence as well as initiating attack for the former La Liga champions, contributing actively to bring glory to Nou Camp.
The player has made 208 appearances so far for the Catalan club, playing a crucial role in the side and helping them get their hands on numerous silverware. Being one of the best full-backs in Europe in the present season, the player is on the target list of a number of top clubs including the Premier League giants Manchester United.
The Red Devils are currently not facing any major problems in their lineup, except the fact that they don’t have a first choice left back at their disposal. It will be a real catch for the 13-time Premier League champions if they can land the vastly experienced Spaniard at Old Trafford in the next transfer window.
It is, however, going to take a lot of effort for the Red Devils to bag the player, as it might be impossible for Barcelona to let go of the player in the near future and join any other club in the Premier League or any other league in Europe.
