Newcastle United will look to get back to winning ways after a disappointing result in the last match, in which they were beaten by newcomers Brighton Hove and Albion by 1-0. The Magpies have been in good form of late and have won three matches in tandem after losing their first two matches in their comeback season to the top flight. They are currently standing on the 10th position in the league table.
The Championship winners from the last term will be facing a stern test in their own backyard as they take on Liverpool this weekend. The Reds have one of the best attacks in the Premier League in the recent times and will look to get some valuable points from their next match continuing from their victory over Leicester last weekend. The Magpies will have to be on their feet and defend well to keep the resurgent Merseyside club at bay.
Defence-
The Newcastle United backline has dealt well with their opponents in the Premier League so far this season but it will a fiery test for them when they play against Liverpool. Led by their captain Jamaal Lascelles, the Magpies have DeAndre Yedlin, Ciaran Clark and Chancel Mbemba guarding their goal, a job they have done quite effectively so far this season.
They will look to do the same once again and deprive the Liverpool attackers, and try to help their goalkeeper Robert Elliot keep a clean sheet.
Midfield-
The Magpies have looked good in the midfield in their last four matches and have shown good resilience against their opponents to win three consecutive matches before losing out to Brighton in their last match.
Players like Mikel Merino, Ayoze Perez, Christian Atsu, Matt Ritchie and Isaac Hayden have proved themselves as a cohesive unit in the middle of the pitch for their team and will look to do the same in their next match against Liverpool as well.
Attack-
Spanish marksman Joselu has been in good form and has shown a fair bit of aggression to pair with his skilful footwork and determined approach to not let go of the ball and help his teammates as well. Against the Liverpool defence, which has been inconsistent throughout this season so far, the 27-year-old might have chances but will have to convert them to give his side an advantage.
Predicted Lineup-
Elliot, Yedlin, Lascelles, Clark, Mbemba, Hayden, Merino, Ritchie, Perez, Atsu, Joselu.
