Arsenal have been out of sorts in the Premier League season so far, having lost two of their first four matches. Their fifth and last match of the campaign was another lacklustre draw against arch-rivals Chelsea, which has added to their agony even more. They are now seeking substantial results in their next few matches to make it a good season in terms of results for them.
The Gunners have been far from their best in their performances, especially in the defensive areas and have been letting the ball into the goal too many times for their comfort. They have tried several combinations in the backline so far this season, but none has seemed to work, making it a miserable term in terms of defensive strength.
The man in charge at the Emirates Stadium, Arsene Wenger, has been looking to get some new faces in the side and has his eyes on a number of young players from all over Europe. One such player, who is right on the top of the target list for the Frenchman is his compatriot youngster Christopher Rocchia, who is currently plying his trade for the Ligue 1 club Marseille.
The 19-year-old is one of the most highly regarded youngsters in French football and has attracted the eyes of a number of big-name clubs from all over Europe, including the likes of the German giants Borussia Dortmund and Premier League biggies Arsenal.
The Ligue 1 club Marseille, however, is looking to tie down the player to their club with a new contract, with his current one ending at the end of the present season.
The player is one of the best full-backs in the youth ranks for his club as well as the national team. His darting runs into the attacking third has been a cause of a headache for a number of defenders in the last few seasons since his arrival in the senior side in 2016.
He is also known for his physical presence in the backline, helping his team to evade dangers and stand like a wall in front of the opposition attackers trying to take advantage of their defensive vulnerability.
If the deal goes through, it will be a great opportunity for the youngster undoubtedly, as Arsene Wenger has a reputation for nurturing young talents and make them into superstars, Thierry Henry and Cesc Fabregas being the best examples of his benevolent tutelage.
