Carlo Ancelotti has been facing quite a lot of stick of late, from fans and club legends alike. Despite being regarded as one of the best coaches in world football, the Italian’s tenure at Bayern has been a turbulent one, after replacing Pep Guardiola in 2016. Especially in the past week or so, Bayern’s performances were characterized by a series of dispute, discontent, and lack of stability within their camp.
Robert Lewandowski hit out at his teammates last season for not winning the golden boot and recently, the Pole also voiced his criticism towards Bayern’s transfer policy. Thomas Muller was also frustrated with his lack of game-time under Carlo Ancelotti, while Arjen Robben criticized Bayern’s performance in midweek, despite their 3:0 win over RSC Anderlecht. In the same game, winger Franck Ribery was also seen throwing his shirt off after being substituted.
So there’s definitely something uneasy going on at the FC Bayern camp and many news outlets, and well-known journalists claim that the former PSG and Real Madrid boss could leave the German outfit if he continues on his lack of form and discontent among players. In fact, Raphael Honigstein, author of the famous book Das Reboot, spoke against Carlo Ancelotti in the BBC Radio 5 live podcast.
As such, ESPN believes that the Italian manager is open to a move to Premier League, in case his tenure at Bayern ends sooner than expected. Asked about the links to England, he added: “I want to say I am happy to be here and stay until the end of my contract.
“I hope to continue here but, after that, if I am not here I have to find another solution. I was in England for two years; I had a good experience and have good memories of this period.” – he said.
Rumors of his possible move to England has seen a number of clubs linked with a move for the 58-year-old. While former club Chelsea is definitely not an option for the Italian, the other capital outfit in Arsenal, are said to be most-heavily intrigued by the idea of bringing Ancelotti back to the Premier League.
Though Arsene Wenger has just signed a two-year contract with the Gunners, massive unrest from fans and media due to their underwhelming performances could see the board consider bringing in the former PSG and Real Madrid boss.
