From what transpired during the summer transfer window, it was evident that the reigning Scottish Premiership champions, Celtic, were inclined to enhance the quality of their arsenal rather than increasing the quantity. Under the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers, the Celts introduced some notable names to the Celtic Park, with Jonny Hayes, Patrick Roberts, Olivier Ntcham, Kundai Benyu and after their late dash, they manage to chalk out a loan deal for Paris Saint-Germain’s striker Odsonne Edouard.
Bringing Edouard’s to the Glasgow based club must have pleased a lot of fans, for the striking department did need a bit of addition. Celtic’s prolific gunman Moussa Dembele is still out and this did put a lot of pressure on Leigh Griffiths early on to cater to the striking requirements of the club.
Besides, they have been slotted against three top quality sides in the shapes of Bayern Munich, PSG, and Anderlecht in the Champions League and have domestic obligations to meet as well.
The Hoops did a stupendous job by bringing Edouard to their ranks, for he is a blossoming youngster who has the calibre of becoming a fine player a few years down the line. He started his youth career with AF Bobigny and PSG were quick to spot his talents. He was signed by the youth setup of the Parisians and eventually made a lot of progress with their reserve side. He is yet to make a mark for the senior side, and a loan deal should enable him to brush himself up.
The 19-year-old is a reflection of a modern-day striker with blistering pace and tremendous power to operate with. He imposes a dominant presence inside opponent’s box and with his excellent control on the ball, he combines some spice with his trickery to bemuse the opposition’s defenders. He runs at the defenders and backs himself to beat them and frankly speaking, he attains successes whilst doing this more often than not.
Edouard is a very special player and owing to his pace, he can also be used by Rodgers on the wings in case of emergency. He scores for fun and his attacking prowess, ability to hold the ball up front and sheer clinical ability of banging goals left right and centre makes him an appealing commodity. The former Liverpool boss is someone who is inclined towards working with the youngsters and he is likely to hand the starlet adequate opportunities to thrive this season.
