According to reports, Jupiler League Pro striker Emmanuel Bonaventure Dennis could make the Manchester giants go into a bidding war as both Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho are immensely keen on landing the Nigerian wonder kid from Club Brugge. The 19-year-old has started off his career in exceptional style with numerous clubs already queueing up outside his office, although Premier League remains a top priority.
Manchester City have been destructive this summer season shelling out more than £200 million in the transfer market to land numerous cherished targets. They have brought in Ederson after he won Liga NOS with Benfica, Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva from AS Monaco after their heroic feat in the Ligue1 campaign, Danilo from Real Madrid, who won the La Liga and did the double on Champions League and Kyle Walker, who is considered one of the best right-backs in English Premier League.
The huge pressure that Guardiola is under following last season’s debacle is clearly understood and City are offering him unquestionable support to attain instant success. Hence, the move for Dennis makes it all the more interesting. The forward has scored five goals in opening five games looking to be in the form of his life and playing him alongside Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus could be the next best thing for him.
However, Guardiola is known for his fondness for young talents and not all of his discoveries have flourished at the greatest stage. And it is Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho’s interest that raises eyebrows, as per Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws. The Portuguese gaffer is known for his no-nonsense approach to the transfer market who only indulges in deals that would help him in the immediate future.
Dennis surely has the quality then of what makes Mourinho believe that he can challenge for the first-team place in the United squad. It was in Ukrainian side FC Zorya Luhansk that Dennis first made his name scoring six goals in 22 games last season. While he wasn’t this prolific, Club Brugge recognized his potential and signed a four-year deal this summer.
Coming from Nigeria’s Abuja Academy, he was a very underrated transfer before he took the league by storm. Premier League clubs Manchester City, Manchester United and Leicester City had reportedly sent scouts last night to watch the youngster in Brugge’s Europa League clash with AEK Athens.
However, Ligue 1 side Monaco and Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund are also known to be his keen admirers and have scouts screening him too.
