According to reports, Liverpool are now weighing up a bid for Ligue 1 full-back Dalbert Henrique as Jurgen Klopp finally tends to Liverpool’s huge crisis area in the team. Quite like AS Monaco, OGC Nice has also seen the rise of some thrilling young talents last season, who are in huge demand in the transfer market. The Brazilian full-back is on the radar of some of the top European clubs at the moment.
However, Liverpool could squeeze in with a chance for him only because Inter Milan are seemingly reluctant in signing him now following Nice’s asking price. Reportedly, the French side is looking for something in the region of £26 million and despite the player agreeing on a five-year deal with the Nerazzurri, the move has stalled at the moment.
Left-back has been a dire need for Liverpool since the failure of Alberto Moreno was first realised back in 2015. However, the Reds have managed to play without much of the Spaniard’s services after fielding central midfielder James Milner in a makeshift role. And although the English international has been assuring in his role, there has always been a void with concerns about what Liverpool could have achieved with a proper full-back in that role.
And now with Champions League one of the fronts that Liverpool are competing next season, a proper left-back is quintessential. Klopp has reportedly put up Moreno for sale this summer with the Spaniard unable to impress any way whatsoever in the last three seasons, and Dalbert could be a proper option.
Liverpool can hardly negotiate with the Ligue 1 club regarding the price given their desperate need for a left back at the moment. And given Dalbert’s terrific displays last season, he is likely to be a good bargain for Klopp’s style of play. The young full-back has phenomenal pace from wide areas, which allows him to make those overlapping runs that Klopp prefers and his superior technique will be a bonus.
In his 33 league appearances last season, he has registered four assists. Dalbert can also play as the left wing with equal ease showing no signs of restraints in his debut season in France. His composure on the ball has raised many eyebrows and with speed blended in that, he could give Liverpool an all new dimension next season.
An academy product of Barra Mansa Futebol Clube, he moved to Flamengo following a loan stint with Fluminese. His first big move was to Portuguese side Vitória Guimarães SC in 2015 from where Nice picked him up last summer.
