Chelsea have reportedly enquired about the availability of Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore. The winger has displayed a very positive attitude in the last season but failed to create a long lasting impression for the Teessiders who got demoted to the Championship after an awful campaign.
Traore came through the ranks of the famous La Masia academy but hasn’t been able to establish himself in the top tier. He has failed to score a single time for the Riversiders as Middlesbrough kept stuttering in the English top tier.
Boro were defensively very rigid but scoring goals was a problem for them. They managed to score a paltry 27 goals last term which clearly reflected the incompetence of their forward line.
Antonio Conte wants to ease the pressure on Eden Hazard, Pedro and Willian by bringing a fresher pair of legs who would be the backup option if somehow any of them fails to deliver. Conte thinks the teenager can adapt in his 3-4-3 formation and would be able to show his antics for what he earned a lot of accolades last season.
The most surprising thing is that Traore suffered two consecutive relegations with Aston Villa and Middlesbrough. His journey after leaving Spain has been very rough and he would definitely like to face a new challenge after having two disastrous campaign.
Boro are very reluctant to let go of one of their prized assets as they do believe the player will be a hit in the Championship. Boro have put a £20m price tag on the player and are ready for a new challenge in the English second tier.
Traore has often been criticised for his weak final pass. The player has the pace and the skill to thrive in England but his sense and vision of the game need to be developed.
Chelsea are unwilling to splash that much for a player as they think investing a large chunk on him would be a risk. West Ham United are also reportedly keeping a tab on the player’s movement. Slaven Bilic has been searching for a player who has that ability to split up the opponent defence and Traore could be that player.
The 21-year-old has had his training at the La Masia academy but hasn’t gotten the stage to showcase his talent. If he does come to the Stamford Bridge, Conte has to work on his consistency.
Middlesbrough have to release some their players to make room for some new entrants and the Teesiders might use this opportunity to earn some fast cash.
